
A Courtly German Marquetry and Ormolu mounted Chest of Drawers
from the Würzburg court workshop of Carl Maximilian Mattern (1705–1774)
in collaboration with Joseph Nabok and Georg Adam Guthmann (carving) around 1742.
Marquetry in walnut burl and burl wood, maple burl, rosewood, yew, alder and maple, partly coloured and finely engraved and chiselled, with cartouches depicting the Marienberg Fortress on the banks of the Main River.
Framed by leaf and rocaille ornaments.
