The “Werner'sche Fabrik” was founded in 1792 and was for more than four decades Berlin's most important manufactory of handcrafted luxury objects made of gilded bronze, such as chandeliers, centerpieces, candelabras etc. The founder of the factory achieved their fame through individual productions for well known clients, including chandeliers for the Countess von der Marck, Sanssouci Palace and the winter appartment of King Frederick William II in Charlottenburg Palace.

An almost identical chandelier - but lost since World War II - was supplied by the Werner & Mieth manufactory to Frederick II's winter apartment in Charlottenburg Palace in 1797.
